Heavy, sampled drums lead "I Will Be Grateful for This Day" into the dark, brooding territory of Bright Eyes' Fevers and Mirrors. But as opposed to the punk folk of the aforementioned record, "I Will Be Grateful for This Day" layers thick, atmospheric keyboards to craft a sound that evokes Bright Eyes' labelmates the Faint as well as the band's previous work. The B-side is a real collector's item, an alternate version of Fevers and Mirrors' "When the Curious Girl Realizes She Is Under Glass Again" that turns the tune into an alt-country ballad. With banjo provided by Mike Mogis, this song is the perfect melding of Bright Eyes and Mogis' purveyors of Americana, Lullaby for the Working Class.
