BMG Special Products' I Believe contains ten gospel and inspirational songs Perry Como recorded at various points in his career. Many of the tracks were recorded under the direction of Mitchell Ayres, and there are several recordings with Ray Charles (not that Ray Charles -- the Ray Charles of the Ray Charles Singers), plus one with the Hugo Winterhalter Orchestra & Chorus. Despite the different arrangers and producers, I Believe sounds cohesive since all of them are coming from the same place -- they all construct lush backgrounds for Perry, and he sings in his trademark smooth-as-honey voice. It's not exceptional Como, but it's not bad, either, and it's ideal for any budget-minded fan looking for a nice inspirational album from the vocalist.
