This EP features five songs that would eventually appear on the The/Return LP, making it a nice, less expensive alternative to that excellent album, considering that these are five of that album's better songs. In particular, this EP's title track stands out as a highlight, as does "Never Meant To," yet another well-crafted song with catchy, harmonious vocals and a brilliant guitar tone with just enough crunch to make it standout in the mix. In fact, this same crunchy guitar tone carries each of the songs here, modestly lingering in the songs yet always omnipresent by the nature of its massive tone. Similarly, the vocals make these songs more catchy than you'd expect, particularly on songs such as "Teardrop Tattoo," when the chorus employs some subtle background vocals. As great as this EP is as a nice substitute for The/Return, though, that album is still recommended, since its other five songs are nearly as wonderful as these.
