AllMusic Review by

Rivka Zohar is a storied Israeli singer with a storied theatrical style and presence -- think Edith Piaf meets Barbra Streisand -- who disappeared from view for a decade and lived in a New York basement shooting dope. Thankfully, she recovered and has resumed her place in the pantheon of great Israeli music. This double-CD set contains her first two albums recorded in the 1970s. The first, Grandma Rebbecca, is one of her most beloved records, and her self-titled second album is regarded as a masterpiece because of her performances of the songs of Shlomo Artzi, including "Ma Avarech," "Al Kapav Yavi," and "Zemer Slosh Atchovot."
