AllMusic Review by

The Tapegerm Collective continue to stretch the boundaries of loop-based composition; this release is certainly no exception from the rule. The result of the ongoing Free Loop Pack project (where several Tapegerm artists provide a selection of loops), the two-CD set includes both Tapegerm and non-Tapegerm artists mixing and matching those loops in a variety of ways that range from the use of loop-mixing software to complex work with samplers and sequencers. As Bryan Baker notes in his liner comments, there is a great deal of fascination in hearing the common elements, yet finding them used in so many diverse ways and in such a broad number of arrangements (each of the Buzzsaw miniatures is very different from the others, for example, while the second disc includes the frothy "Rondelay Rhondalay," where the Tapegerm loops are applied to a track that could well fit on a dancefloor). Baker has mastered the set with cross-fades to provide a continuous thread, which generally works, though some tracks could use a little more dynamic energy. Overall, a nice collection that brings together an interesting and clever set of artists working the looping edge of electronic music.
