AllMusic Review by

The lumberjacks of yesteryear went into the woods of Maine and the Great Lakes States in the fall and did not return until the Spring. During those winter nights they entertained themselves by composing and singing these songs. Eleven songs were recorded in 1938 (one in 1948) by Alan Lomax. It was edited by E.C. Beck.
