AllMusic Review by

Surprisingly this Jazzology album was only the second solo set ever recorded by the brilliant stride pianist Dick Wellstood. His repertoire on the date is offbeat with not only tunes by Fats Waller, James P. Johnson and Scott Joplin ("Fig Leaf") but Zez Confrey's obscure "Poor Buttermilk," "Russian Rag" and two originals. This little-known album is easily recommended to followers of classic jazz.
