AllMusic Review by

The danzon, a 19th-century ballroom dance and the chachacha's basis, was an elegant form strongly redolent of potted palms and long white gloves. That's the way the great Cuban flutist Fajardo plays it, in a delightful recording reminiscent of danzon king Romeu. Most of the numbers -- all of them in the full multipart versions -- are much-loved classics, including Romeu's danzon version of the Magic Flute overture, "Masacre," Almendra" and "La Gioconda."
