Los Dareyes de la Sierra's CON BANDA is pure, old-fashioned Tejano, the popular music of the borderland between Mexico and the southern tier of the United States. The arrangements use tuba instead of bass, drums are minimal, electric instruments are nowhere to be found, and a rollicking accordion leads the horn-heavy band. Split equally between heartfelt ballads like "Adios Mi Amor" and more uptempo material like "La Recia," these 12 songs are traditional Tejano at its best.
