This collection at least attempts to chronicle Clannad's various stages through the years. Unlike K-Tel's The Celtic Voice, which merely sampled two of Clannad's early albums, Celtic Collections offers selections from several albums beginning with Dulaman (1976) through Anam (1990). While this release includes a preponderance of their more modern material, it also provides glimpses into their acoustic and traditional origins. The trouble with most budget-line collections is they offer little or no liner information and song details, like the studio album from which each track came. This collection is no different. There is no sense of chronology here either. Celtic Collections merely serves as an informal introduction to the curious and uninitiated.
