AllMusic Review by

Although Ray Brown is the stated leader on this studio date, this CD actually is a showcase for the compositions of guitarist Rodney Jones and vibraphonist Darwin Gross, concentrating almost exclusively on the blues. In spite of an outstanding rhythm section with Ray Brown on bass, pianist John Lewis, and drummer Mickey Roker, the original music is not particularly memorable, and at times, very tiresome. Neither is the dull treatment of "Gentle Rain" of any help. Ray Brown fans can easily skip this CD and the follow-up release, Moonlight in Vermont, which has material from the same sessions.
