Although trombonist Jack Teagarden is listed as the main star, in reality the music on this LP is taken from two of Eddie Condon's famous Town Hall concerts. Teagarden, taking a well-deserved vacation from his struggling big band, is consistently inspired by the presence of such all-stars as trumpeters Max Kaminsky, Bobby Hackett, Billy Butterfield and Wingy Manone, clarinetist Pee Wee Russell, baritonist Ernie Caceres and, on "Christmas at Carnegie," the great soprano Sidney Bechet. The music is freewheeling Chicago jazz with vocals from the trombonist, Lee Wiley and, on the lengthy "Big T & Wingy Blues," both Teagarden and Manone. Classic performances.
