AllMusic Review by

LA's Backbiter and Swedish stoner metal enthusiasts Elope unite for this enjoyable split release on Man's Ruin. Think Vanilla Fudge, MC5, and the Who all sharing a bong, and you're getting close. This goes for both bands. Sure, Backbiter's material is more cohesive, opting for tighter rhythms where their counterparts like to drift toward psychedelia. But both groups have been staring into the light for way too long, and that's made them quite dizzy. Standouts on the 'Biter side include "Nova," which might sound a bit like Styx (or at least Uriah Heep), while Elope (who share members with Lowrider) bring a great, late-'60s feel to the awesomely-named "Can't Apply No Science."
