Atomes are from Martinique, and have produced a spunky album graced with the silky voice of Christiane Vallejo. Their style is a mixture of zouk love, up-tempo zouk, reggae, and touches of R&B. The album sold quite well and was favorably received by the zouk community. There are some Haitian strains in the particularly strong track "Christ-Lov," giving it thrust and grit. There are enough tracks with drive and swinging momentum to distinguish this album from the zouk love herd, which can be monotonous at best. The track variation and energy combined with Guy N'Sangue's sparkling bass, a full complement of horns, and the sensual vocals of Vallejo make this album worthy of more than one listen. Recommended.
