This album includes 15 songs recorded from 1934-41. Eleven are a cappella, four accompanied by guitar or banjo. Songs include "Barbara Allen," "Pretty Polly" (two versions), and two Negro worksongs, "It Makes a Long Time Man Feel Bad" and "O Lord Don't 'Low Me to Beat 'em." Singers include Woody Guthrie, Alex Moore, and E.C. Ball. It was edited by Alan Lomax.
