K-Tel's Super 20's Series is sure to frustrate and annoy music lovers unfortunate enough to cross paths with any of the discs included. The reason why is simple enough. Although each disc contains the enticing promise of 20 excellent examples of pop music from the '60s, what you get instead are mostly pallid remakes of the original tracks recorded at a point at or near the artists' expiration dates. Super 20's Series: 60's Rock Bands has great songs like the Troggs' "Wild Thing," the Grass Roots' "Midnight Confession," and the Beau Brummels' "Laugh," with "Laugh" done in a fashion that might suggest decent (and maybe almost good) karaoke. That isn't what people who may have bought this disc want to hear. Records that pull such a blatant bait and switch should be against the law. At the very least, a collection like this should be completely ignored, scorned, and left on the shelf to rot.
