At nearly an hour in length, the album feels immense, though more so from its unexpectedly cinematic stylings than from playing time. Rotating, scene-setting arrangements (rock, jazz, chamber music) underscore beat-poetic narrative vignettes of a gritty reality seemingly from another time.
