The Vincents were created in Columbus, OH, in the late '90s and led by singer Eric Mahoney. After filling out the group, the band toured extensively for two years across the United States but concentrated mostly on the Ohio area. Having opened for acts such as Knee Jerk Reaction and Forty Fives, the Vincents' reputation as an energetic and eventful live act got the attention of many fans and also local radio and college stations. In January 2001, the band released its debut self-titled EP, which was followed by a split 7" with the Igniters. The band has performed at various musical showcases including Toronto's North by Northeast Festival in 2002. The Vincents have often been described as a live wrecking crew, which is something lead singer Mahoney takes pride in. "I like to see Iggy Pop or David Yow running around acting like they're insane," he said in a recent interview.
