Larry (guitar, vocals), Ray (guitar, vocals) and Lloyd Mercey (drums, vocals) began playing together in 1957. Based in Ontario, Canada, the brothers first had a national hit in 1961, when "Just the Snap of Your Fingers" became popular. More than 50 singles followed during the next 25 years; the Mercey Brothers were inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989.

The group's more than 20 albums include self-titled releases in 1968 for Columbia, in 1969 for Harmony, in 1970 for CTL/Columbia, in 1973 for RCA and in 1982 for MBS (their own label).
