The house band at popular Tanzanian nightspot Sugar Ray's, Tatunane continues to create some of southeastern Africa's most irresistible dance music. Driven by the polyrhythms of a six-piece percussion section and the melodic interplay of electric guitar and mandolin, the group creates what http://www.concertopoli.org calls "true states of trance ecstatica." Tatunane attracted international attention with their debut album, AfroBrazz, in 1991. Released on the Dutch Norsk Plateselskap label, the album received Radio France's Prix Decouvertes.
