Fondly remembered by those who were lucky enough to witness the band in full flow on stage, this Scottish psychobilly band was only active for a few years at the end of the 80s. Formed in 1987 by energetic frontman Harry Horse (b. Richard Horne, 9 May 1960, Coventry, England, d. 10 January 2007, Burra, Shetland Isles, Scotland; banjo), the line-up also included Garry Finlayson (b. 24 September 1952, Kirkwall, Scotland; banjo), Angus R. Grant (b. 14 February 1967, Fort William, Scotland; fiddle), Malcolm Crosbie (b. 25 May 1960, Edinburgh, Scotland; guitar), Conrad Ivitsky (b. Conrad Molleson, 28 October 1968, Edinburgh, Scotland; bass), and James Mackintosh (b. 11 August 1966, Fort William, Scotland; drums). Although their frantic mixture of rockabilly and punk was best experienced live, Swamptrash did stay together long enough to release It Makes No Never Mind. Swamptrash disbanded in 1990, with Horne going on to form Hexology before establishing a career as a political cartoonist, while the remaining members carried on working together in the Celtic fusion band Shooglenifty.
