Before their formation in the winter of 1997, Superkreme already had an extended history in the indie scene of Cleveland. While singer and guitarist Matt Sobol spent a number of years with The Waynes, frontwoman and guitarist Susan Rasch led the conveniently titled Rasch before hooking up with the former rhythm section of Jehova Waitresses. With the complete line-up of Paul Lewis (bass) and Jeff Harmon (drums), Superkreme formulated their pop abilities, looking up to the likes of R.E.M., Pavement and the Velvet Crush. Acme Entertainment, Inc. eventually released the band's first self-titled album within a year of their debut.
