Well-known blues singer and bassist Stephen Barry is a native of Lachine, Quebec. His professional career took off in the '70s when he began working gigs throughout Canada with his own band. Members of the group have been pretty steadfast, though there have been a change or two over the years. The lineup is guitarists Andrew Cowan and Michael Brown, saxophonists Jody Golick and Robert David, drummer John McColgan, and Martin Boodman on harmonica. Together the group delivers blues music in many styles, a lot carrying the flavor of blues from around 1950. Barry and his band released a debut album, Live at the Iroquois Hotel, in 1979. Other full-length offerings followed into the '90s, like Blues Under a Full Moon and Happy Man.
