J.J. Starside and James Eight make up the indie-rock duo Starside Eight. The two put the band together in early 2001 for a casual jam session. What resulted was an energetic pop sound and that inspired Starside Eight to make things happen ... away from their 9-to-5 world.
Starside and Eight initially met when they were just three years old when they were in a mallet music class in Brooklyn. They drifted apart over the course of the 1980s, but reconnected once they were in high school. Both had a strong fondness for the likes of The Velvet Underground, Wilco, Big Star and Tom Petty, so naturally a band had to happen. In spring 2002, Starside Eight made their debut with Goodnight Noises Everywhere, followed later in the year by the Kiss For Christmas EP.
