b. Earl Walton, c.1910, USA, d. USA. A tenor saxophonist, Walton was the leader of a Detroit, Michigan-based band in 1930/1 for which Milt Buckner was arranger. In 1940, Walton was leader of the house band at the Congo Club in Detroit. When he quit, his place was taken by Wardell Gray and leadership was handed over to Johnny Allen.
