Comprising Gabby Ramirez (ex-Willees; bass), Bill Longhorse (ex-Rumble; vocals, guitar), Nate Fowler (guitar, backing vocals) and Toby H. Sheets (drums), hard rock band Sixty Six formed in Dallas, Texas, USA, in 1994. With all the members veterans of a variety of Dallas groups, Sixty Six’s professionalism was highlighted by the booking of major US tours within months of their formation. The group’s debut album, released on the independent Steve Records label, featured 14 selections of their early songwriting, described in the press as ‘Texas rock’. Several tracks also drew heavily on the local blues tradition, with Ramirez admitting the inspiration behind ‘Burnin’ Hell’ was John Lee Hooker.
