Mexican tropical outfit Sammy debuted in 1990 with the release of Tres Veces Campeon (Three Times Champion), a tribute to local boxer Julio César Chávez. Fascinación followed soon after. The band toured around Mexico and the U.S. before signing up to EMI Latin in 1999 and making their first international record. That self-titled album featured the hit singles "Nuevamente Solo," "Ladrona de Amor," and "Tocando Fondo."
