Artist Biography by

The music of Wales and Brittany was fused by Saith Rhyfeddod, a group featuring the vocals of Essex, England-born and fluent Welsh speaker Julie Murphy and multilingual Breton singer Brigitte Kloareg. Accompanied by bagpipers Jonathan Shorland and Ceri Rhys Matthews, Murphy and Kloareg combined to create an extremely harmonic experience. Saith Rhyfeddod came together shortly after Murphy left the Albion Band, with whom she performed from 1990 to 1997. One of England's best female vocalists, she's continued to attract attention since Saith Rhyfeddod's disbanding. Her debut solo album, Black Mountain Revisited, was named Best Folk Album of 1999 by Mojo Magazine. A much-respected folksong collector, ethnomusicologist, and choral director, Kloareg continues to perform with her daughter, Katell.
