A Brooklyn, New York native, All Music Guide contributor Roxanne Blanford is the youngest of seven siblings. Her fascination for and love of music is longstanding, as her earliest memories are of playing make-believe rock guitarist with a broom stick at the age of six. On her tenth birthday, she didn't get a guitar. Instead, she got a typewriter and her love for writing was consequently nurtured and fed. After attending elementary school on a full art sholarship and high school on a full academic scholarship, she went on to New York University, The New School for Social Research, and City University of New York, City College, emphasizing communications, history, psychology, philosophy and literature studies. Post-school, Roxanne worked in advertising for a women's magazine conglomerate in New York City for several years before abandoning the world of print publishing for a career in Internet advertising. She has been an advertising assistant, a sales proposal writer and a sales account coordinator. All the while, she continues to write on and about music, interviewing musicians and managing a music-content website as she climbs the corporate ladder in New York's burgeoning Silicon Alley. Her other 'loves' include football, basketball, rollerblading, the Internet, and anything pertaining to popular culture and classic movies.
