Artist Biography

Reign are a thrash/doom metal band from South Shields in the north-east of England, influenced by bands including Paradise Lost and Carcass. Comprising John Cook (vocals, bass), Mark Robinson (rhythm and acoustic guitar), Ronnie McLean (drums) and Mick Storrie (rhythm and lead guitar), they initially rose to prominence via a final appearance in BBC Radio 1’s Rock War competition, where they were possibly the most extreme group on offer. Signing to European record label Mausoleum Records, the obvious next step was the recording of a debut album. Embrace combined brutal riffs with selective displays of melody. Positively reviewed in most of the genre magazines, Reign set about UK touring to promote the album during the spring of 1995.
