Comprised of American James H. Sidlo and Welshman David Cooper Orton, Re: Cooperation makes ambient instrumental music heavily based around looping and guitars with ghostly sustain. The pair actually met on the Looper's Delight mailing list, and collaborated by mailing tapes back and forth. Orton handles e-bowed and electric guitars, loops, software manipulation, and drum programming, while Sidlo plays guitars, standard and fretless bass, loops, and "atmospherics." Their mail collaboration eventually resulted in the 2003 album Transcollaboration. While much of the CD is built around gentle ambient guitar and looping, with obvious inspirations from the collaborations between Brian Eno and Robert Fripp, at times it also goes into more energetic and edgier territory, particularly on cuts that use programmed drums.
