Having gotten their start in 1999 at the St. Louis University, Old Man Joe was a collaboration between a number of friends who wanted to jam on some old bluegrass, blues, and country numbers. With a revolving lineup composed of members who were graduating from college and moving onto the real world, bassist Joe Squillace remains as the only original member. Two years following their formation and after a number of home recordings that resulted in a self-titled, self-released debut EP in 2001, the lineup, along with Squillace, would temporarily settle with Brian Weingart (drums), Joel Ferber (mandolin/guitar/banjo), Dan Grandone (congas/bongo), Rose Ehresman (vocals), and Goeff Zimmerman (keyboards/guitar).
