The Misty River Band formed near the end of 1983. Members of the bluegrass group are bassist Lisa Chambers, mandolin player Doug Batchelor, guitarist Kenny Dodson, and banjo picker Randy Watson. Each member does a share of the vocals and brought plenty of experience with him or her to the group. Chambers is a former member of Gatlinburg Grass and New Zone Acre Mountain Boys, Dodson spent time as part of the Dollywood's Citico Creek Band, Watson served with the Smokey Mountain Travelers Band, and Batchelor can list groups in his credits like the Pinnacle Boys and Paul Craft & the Settlers.
During their long career together, the members have performed across much of the United States and worked with many artists including Blue Highway, Chris Jones, the Tony Rice Unit, Hot Rize, the Country Gentleman, and Bill Monroe. Misty River released its debut recording, Only a Dream, in 1986. It was eight long years before there was a sophomore offering, Take the Blame. In 1999, just in time to finish out the millennium, a new 18-track release hit the market, titled The Fields Daddy Plowed.
"Ramblin' Blue Dog Blues," "Someone on Her Mind," "Memories," "End of the Line," "Mistake on the Mend," "Blue Plate Special," "Old Home Town," and "Walk Upon the Water" are just a few of the bluegrass numbers available on Misty River's albums.
