Freelancing since 1995, when he got out of the clutches of the corporate autonomy of a very well-known, industry-driven music weekly. Since that time, he has happily been dividing his time between writing about long-established rockers (both new projects and reissues) as well as some of the finer artists in the retro vein throughout North America. He has contributed to The Tracking Angle, Rolling Stone, Crawdaddy!, Record Collectors (Japan), BAM, Mojo, and others.
Also a songwriter/musician, he's recently been recording material with production assistance from the members of Single Bullet Theory, a Los Angeles-based pop/rock band. He's also in the process of putting together an oral history book of the Mamas & the Papas, tentatively titled Creeque Alley. It's a story, he says, "that's stranger than the truth, and drama that's still playing itself out." ~ Matthew Greenwald
