Cellist Margaret Parkins has played with many of NYC's top downtown creative scene musicians. Originally from a musical family in Michigan -- sisters Sara and Andrea and cousin Zeena are all professional musicians, too -- Parkins received her bachelor's degree from Eastman Conservatory, and went on to get her doctorate from State University of New York at Stony Brook. During these years, her main teachers were Timothy Eddy and Steven Doane. Parkins appears on various '90s releases, including her involvement in Guy Klucevsek's Bantam Orchestra, as heard on the beautiful Stolen Memories released by Tzadik in 1996. The late '90s found Parkins actively performing in Southern California, and teaching in the music departments of Southern California College and the University of California, Irvine.
