This UK heavy metal trio, based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, was formed by the Scrimshaw brothers - Glen (guitar, keyboards) and Mike (bass, vocals) - with Pat Coleman occupying the drum-stool. Limelight specialized in extended melodic compositions of a progressive nature, featuring complex time changes and individual virtuoso sections (similar to Yes, yet also incorporating the contemporary style of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal). Their one and only album contained strong material, but was let down by low-budget production and weak vocals. The Scrimshaw brothers returned to the pub rock scene, playing mainly pop rock cover versions.
