A Fort Worth, TX band initially, the Men of the Range were a vocal group of the type later exemplified by the Riders of the Purple Sage. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1940. The group included variously Lew Preston on guitar, Jake Wright on guitar, Foy Willing (eventual Purple Sage founder) on steel guitar and Elmer Crenshaw on bass.
