Lazarus Clamp is an indie rock band with dual bases in Leicester and London, England. Since forming, they've attempted to shake several comparisons to other guitar groups, with Hood, Slint, and Yo La Tengo seeming to be the most frequent. Guitarists/vocalists Michael and Andrew conceived the band in 1994, after meeting at a Rodan show. Bassist Kim and drummer Mark later joined up, and the quartet spent the next couple of years gigging sporadically around their region. The band made their first official recording debut on the 1995 Sorted compilation Ashtray Heart. Two cassette-only releases, Usually Dry-Eyed and Excavator, were self-issued soon thereafter. A number of personnel changes ensued around this time: Mark left his position on the drum stool and was replaced by Huw, Kim was replaced by George, and violinist Tom was added to the lineup. A couple more compilation appearances and a series of singles predated the group's full-length debut, Such as You Are and Still Not Seeming to Mind, which was an assemblage of various studio sessions and home recordings. The band's second proper album, The More We Are the Funnier It Is, followed in 2001.
