Hervé Barreau is the musical director of the French ensemble les Hautbois d'Henri IV, a reincarnation of the kind of oboe band popular in Europe at the end of the sixteenth century. In addition to directing the ensemble, he performs on Baroque oboe, flutes, and shawms. Barreau has led this ensemble in colorful repertoire of French and Italian music originally used for ceremonies, dances, and village fêtes. The ensemble performs in costume, both in concert and for medieval and Renaissance festivals.
