Edgar Daniel is a salsa singer from Puerto Rico who emerged to significant acclaim in 2005-2006, earning numerous award nominations. Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, Daniel made his full-length album debut with Controversial (2005). Released by the independent label Music Productions, the album spawned a pair of Top 20 Latin Tropical Airplay hits ("Me Extrañarás," "Cunado Baje la Marea") and earned Daniel both Premios Billboard de la Música Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro nominations in 2006. In the wake of all the acclaim, Daniel signed a major-label recording contract with Sony BMG, which reissued Controversial in 2007. A year later Sony BMG released Daniel's eagerly awaited second album, Virgo (2008), which spawned the hit single "Mentiras."
