Sweden's Dog Faced Gods (not to be confused with the Native American hard rockers of the same name) were conceived as an offshoot side project by certain members of death metal band Ebony Tears, who decided that certain recordings contained creative differences more radical than they felt comfortable associating with their regular bread and butter. The result was 1998's one-off Random Chaos Theory in Action LP, featuring a death-thrash hybrid distinguished by hardcore-style vocals and unorthodox time signatures of Meshuggah-like complexity. Experiment concluded, vocalist Johnny Wranning and guitarist Conny Jonsson rededicated themselves to Ebony Tears, while bassist Peter Tuthill started a new band called Construcdead and in-demand drummer Rickard Evansand split his time between Therion, Demonoid, Ebony Tears, and other concerns.
