Country songwriter Dennis Adkins was born in Indiana and began appearing in an act with his brother Bob at an early age. After appearing on a local radio show also featuring Crystal Gayle and Loretta Lynn, Bob found work leading a band in Las Vegas while Dennis moved to Nashville. There, he began teaming up with Mel Tillis and placed a song on Highway 101's 1989 Paint the Town album. After passing "Ace in the Hole" to George Strait, Adkins' song hit number one. He's also written songs for Roy Clark and others, and makes his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
