Artist Biography

A New York-based vocal group formed in 1960, the Demensions had one Top 20 hit, a doo-wop version of The Wizard Of Oz classic ‘Over The Rainbow’, that same year. Comprising Lenny Dell (b. the Bronx, New York, USA), Howie Margolin (b. the Bronx, New York, USA), Marisa Martelli (b. the Bronx, New York, USA) and Peter Del Giudice (b. the Bronx, New York, USA), they were signed to the small Mohawk Records. Following a then-current trend of remaking older pop tunes rock ‘n’ roll style, the Demensions, with an arrangement by Seymour Barab, worked up their version of the one-time Judy Garland hit in a ballad style. They recorded other standards in that style, but only one other song, a cover of Billy Eckstine’s ‘My Foolish Heart’, charted, reaching number 95 on Coral Records in 1963.
