b. 10 June 1928, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. White taught himself to play harmonica as a youngster and received his stage-name because of his youthful appearance. In the mid-50s he recorded with Lightnin’ Slim and in his own right for J.D. ‘Jay’ Miller’s Feature label, and in 1957 for Ace Records. In 1960 he moved to Los Angeles, California, and retired from music, although in 1970 he relocated to San Francisco and began to perform again. He has since recorded for Blues Connoisseur and his own Cherrie label, whose roster also includes J.J. Malone.
