Vocalist Carlotta Dale was one of the great vocal talents of the early big band era. The beginning of Dale's music career was back in 1938 when she sang with the swinging band of Jess Stacy. The following year she worked for Will Bradley, for whom she recorded the knotty "Fit to Be Tied" and the hurried "Gotta Get Home." She really took off in the Savitt outfit, where the combination of her beautiful voice and deep sincerity with the efforts of the equally talented vocalist Bon Bon made for a phenomenal stage show. She was also involved in a car accident where Savitt was driving but recovered over time. She then joined the Will Bradley band before retiring in the 1940s. Fans of singers such as Mildred Bailey and Kay Starr will find Dale much to their liking.
