The creation of UK DJ Gordon Matthewman, who came to prominence in 1988 with the club hit, ‘Go’. Several follow-ups failed to ignite, and it was not until ‘Cutter’ that he had another hit. Its popularity followed the mailing of 12 acetates to selected DJs, with the stock copy eventually emerging on Ten. The track’s unusual use of trumpet and synthesizer endeared it to many, and it was also remixed by Altern 8. He continued to record into the mid-90s, and by 1994 had moved on to Nutbush for ‘You’.
