One of the various pseudonyms used by Manchester, England-based artist Andrew Diey, Black Faction specializes in attractive, fascinating dark experimental electronic work, easily slotting alongside the universes of turn-of-the-millennium avant-garde techno as represented by Warp, Skam, and Soleilmoon. The latter two labels have in fact released some of his material (others include Klanggalerie and, via compilations, Plug Research and BSI). Diey by trade pursues a career in sonic design and programming for computer game firms as well as TV series and other commercial clients, a background well-suited for his recorded and live work. Diey's initial efforts appeared under the Foreign Terrain moniker in 1998, though he switched to Black Faction the following year, releasing a number of efforts from 7" singles and limited-edition live recordings to full studio releases on CD and elsewhere. Diey's major releases as Black Faction include Internal Pt. 1 and Internal Pt. 2 from 1999 and Internal Dissident Part 1 in 2001.
