b. USA. In Detroit, Michigan, in the late 40s, blues guitarist and singer Dunham teamed up with fellow blues artist Sylvester Cotton. The pair was recorded by Bernard Besman for the Blues Sensation label and, as a result, became caught up in the company’s last-ditch attempts to capitalize on the good sales being made by better-known artists. Thus it was that some of Cotton’s recordings were issued as though by John Lee Hooker whose style both Cotton and Dunham mirrored. Dunham also recorded with the blues musician James Taylor. (NB: There is a percussionist of this name who played with Robert Hohner’s Percussion Ensemble in the late 90s.)
