Artist Biography by

Aaron Schatz grew up in Sharon, MA and attended Brown University in Providence, RI beginning in 1992. He began working at WBRU, twice voted Rolling Stone's Radio Station of the Year for Medium Markets. Schatz began as a newscaster but after covering the 1994 gubernatorial elections, he switched to the music department and began working as a disc jockey, eventually hosting the morning-drive program. After graduating with a B.A. in economics in May 1996, he spent the summer working at WFNX in Boston and WKPE on Cape Cod, while also spinning the weekly alternative dance night at the Providence club Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel. In October 1996 he moved to Daytona Beach, FL to take a position as imaging director and nighttime air personality at WKRO; in March 1997 he was promoted to music director and midday air personality. During his time at WKRO he helped break the band Creed by being the second music director to play their unreleased demo. Disagreements with the WKRO management led Schatz to return to New England in October 1997. He now lives in Cambridge, MA and works as a technology market research analyst. In his spare time he writes music reviews for Boston's Instant Magazine and the independent label trade publication Get Fancy. He also works as a freelance disc jockey, spinning at weddings and parties. ~ Aaron Shatz
