Sony Music Special Products' Yours Always collects ten highlights from Willie Nelson's extensive work for Columbia Records. Although there are several hits here -- "Always on My Mind," "If You've Got the Money, I've Got the Time," "City of New Orleans" -- they're outweighed by a number of album tracks. This approach is commonplace in budget-line compilations and the results are usually shoddy, but that's not the case here. Nelson is such a gifted, reliable musician that it's easy to draw a handful of cuts at random and get a pretty good album. That's what happened here -- "I Never Go Around Mirrors," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground," and "It's Not Supposed to Be That Way" may not have been hits for him, but they're all fine renditions. And that consistent quality is what makes Yours Always such a bargain at its budget price, even if collectors will find it somewhat disposable.
